we still don't know what type of hardware will be required to run Oblivion smoothly on a PC but it's probably a fact that a lot of people right now are concerned about that their system might be too slow or lack certain other requirements.
What I thought is that anyone who wants to get some advices could post some informations about his system in this thread - only the main hardware-components, please - and then we could try to help that person with deciding what components need an upgrade - or if a completely new system is needed

in case nobody is against it I'd like to start:

Mainboard: Capable of AMD Athlon XP
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2600+
GFX: Nvidia GeForce FX 5900XT (128MB)
RAM: 512 MB DDR RAM

I think before Oblivion is released I'll buy a Mainboard that is capable of an AMD 64-Processor. That would also mean I'd have to buy new RAM. And I'd also like to buy a new graphic-card. What do you guys think?

Heh this is what I'm looking at, the regular xbox 360 without games and such is what, 299 or 399? I think that's a lot cheaper then getting the bundles for hundreds of dollars when the necessary video chip is probably a little over 200 dollars or even less. I mean the prices are outrageous.... I just want oblivion and maybe halo 3~

Hm, I'd say it's a little above average. The problem with the 6600GT is that it has only got 128MB, for Oblivion I'd suggest something with 256MB

I'll probaly get it for the 360 even though my pc is more than capable of running it (3000+ Athlon 64 ).

Well the ram i am very well aware of.....and will add rather soon i reckon, but can´t i just upgrade the drivers to my graphic card?

Only updating the drivers will unfortunately not help a lot, I fear that a newer card with 256MB will be needed

as long as we don't know the official requirements nobody can say it for sure...

hm, I guess it's a 128mb-card. Before buying a new one it's very important to read a lot of tests and reviews, thus you can be sure that the one you're gonna buy is a good one

I have the samsung syncmaster 173p which is cne't's top rater syncmaster. I love mine. granted it was $600, but came with a $300 rebate. so might not be within your budget O.o

Either 512, 768 or 1024Mb DDR RAM (I'm not sure which two RAM things are in the PC at the moment).
Geforce FX 256mb (no idea what model)
Creative Audigy 2 Sound Card
152 Gig Hard drive (this is what my comp is telling me, I suspect it is meant to be 160 gig)

The main problem with my PC at the moment is the god-awful screen. I'll need a new one if I want to enjoy Oblivion in all it's shiny-grahiced glory.

Looked over a few screens, and this was the best I cam over - very good price on it too actually Think it will do very good even when Oblivion comes out...

But over to the Oblivion System Requirments, maybe we could do some brainstorming trying to find out what the SR will be... I've been thinking and I think it will be pretty much like BF2, only that you will need a better GCard.

Think that with 1GB RAM will be enough to run it on maybe some graphics on "normal" and some on "high". I'm pretty sure you will need over Intel Pentium 4 2.4+ GHz, AMD 2.4 should work pretty good I think. Minimum 10 GB left on your HD just for safety reasons

umm, this thread went slightly into the wrong direction ... this thread was not intended to give the people who already own an uber-PCs the possibility to show off with their system's specifications - it should be more something like a thread in which people who think that their system lacks a certain hardware-component, to make Oblivion run smoothly, can ask for suggestions about what to improve.



I'd try to make sure that you have at least 1024Mb, 512 will certainly not be enough

Yea, your gonna def need a newer vid card.. I'd also say get a another stick of 1 gig ram.

I'm afraid 2 Ghz won't even be enough for the minimum requirements, instead of a new hard drive I'd suggest a better CPU

This will be the weak part of the system. Perhaps go with a Serial ATA since you are going to spend a gazillion septims anyway

Yeah I know... I've already changed that part to a Western Digital Caviar 250GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM, got some advice from my oncle about it...

But its not 100% sure I'm going for that case right now, gets a little bit expensive so I might just buy a pretty good Aluminium with 2x120mm fans for 700 NKRs and just have that a little while
