Well you get a new rank at 400 posts I think so there really isn't any reason to have another one at 500.
1000 makes sense for the next one (at least that's what I recall is the next rank change after 400).

No, I mean like once you reach a certain number of posts, a feature unlocks in your profile that lets you get your own custom rank (like on TESSource). The ranks being the things below your avatar.

Too many people would make false headings, such as "Offiical Moderator" and such.

Huh... you can do that on TESSource

. I haven't seen anyone that has an "Official Moderator" custom rank, though. Then again, that could be becuase they have lables for if you're a moderator.

I'd believe everyone here'd know who's in charge and who isn't though. Plus everyone who's in charge has that nifty logo under their avatars.

I've been on larger forus than this that allow custom ranks for everyone, and I can say that people do not give themselves such ranks on any kind of regular basis.

yeah it is too risky. If you look on TESSource I have a custom title, and I would never think of doing such a thing. I say we implement it, so the Grand Imperator can live on.

If anyone did that, I would label them as a loser with a self-isteem (sp?) problem.

Well this is the word of one of the gods of this forum and he says no. Anyways I think if there were a custom rank system like that there would be much more spamming to get to that rank.

Well another alternative is for the admins just to give people the custom title they want by hand once they reach a certain number of posts. Another forum did that for people of a certain presidge aka if they knew the admin, the reason I called it presidge is that I had one.
It could promote spamming, but most things do in one way or another, if the admins do it by hand then they can say no to people who just got that number of posts by spamming.
WHAT?! No fair! If Channeler gets a cupcake, I want a cupcake.

I'd prefer a system of handing out custom ranks to the forum regulars.
