Full Version: To all the Trekkies of this world

If you're reading this, you're either a trekkie, or you're a non-trekkie who hopes to get a really good laugh. I think the subject at hand has potential to please both groups.

Trekkies, if you wonder if you're geeky enough, there is now a chance to find out. Turns out Paramount has cleaned out the garage and is now selling off crap from 40 years of Star Trek! And before you think back to that last convention you went to where they sold all that cheap crap like horribly glorified drawings of aging actors, this crap they're gonna sell is good crap! Among the highlights are:

- that flute Picard played in that one episode where...uh.. you know
- a real Klingon captain's chair! (Q'Pla!)
- Phasers!
- and the ultimate dream of the real basement-dwelling trekkie: 7 of 9's season 7 jump suite!

The auction is done by Christies, and takes place stardate October 5th through 7th. In case you want to browse a few of the highlights, click here - Flash required.

I want that chair. So bad.
Fuzzy Knight
I'm a none-Trekkie... So just a laugh.gif from me...

Hope this isn't considered as spam... tongue.gif
milanius
Sorry, Starge, poor Trekkies here sad.gif Didn't have the chance to see Lt. Tasha Yar (a.k.a. Denise Crosby) when she came on a convention few years ago in Novi Sad, and I hate myself because of that even now...
Ibis
Wow, their even selling the catalogues as collector items.

Guess my favorite has always been Mr. Spock and also Data. Just woo me to sleep with sheer logic baby! tongue.gif
But I really do like them .... guess I'm a mild sort of trekkie.

My sisters and I had a code name for our father of "Spock" for years without him knowing it. It was because he was an engineer and one of the most logical, non-emotional people I've ever known. I didn't even know boys had emotions until one of my boyfriends started crying once! ohmy.gif
Anyway, we'd sit at the dinner table and in between my Dad's lectures about rolling steel or nuclear reactor cores ... we'd make overt comments about "What did Spock say?" ..."Oh, Lt. Ahura hadn't asked him yet." This being code for did my sister ask if we all could go late to the boardwalk that night, or whatever.

When we finally got Dad to relax enough to sit on the living room floor and eat pizza off the coffee table while watching Star Trek - we told him and he felt he'd arrived at being a true Trekkie. Just, he mostly sat and debated how Mr. Spock's logic wasn't really logical. hahahaha

If I could buy something from Star Trek, it would probably be Captain Picard's glass cup of Earl Grey tea that comes out of the replicator. Or maybe, his Star Trek pajamas ... guess I like him too, huh? blink.gif
Olav
Argh! I'd love that Klingon chair... ohmy.gif Not sure where I should keep it, however... tongue.gif

But a phaser would be a nice item to show the grandchildren... biggrin.gif

And I must consider myself a trekkie, since I've seen all episodes except for the Original Series, I'm slightly embarrased to say...

Live long and prosper! cool.gif
Ibis
Guys seem to really like the Klingon chair.

Lt. Tasha Yar, was she the blonde who stayed for awhile but then left and then later she came back as a Romulan half daughter, or something? If so, she was very cute. Shame she didn't stay part of the crew.
Olav
Yes, that was Tasha. She had a few short come-back appearances in later episodes. I think she left to be a movie actress. Seen her in a few movies.

My all time favorite girl from Star Trek was Kes from Voyager, and not Seven of Nine like most males seem to drool over... tongue.gif

Then again T'Pol from Enterprise was certainly not bad either... Too bad it got cancelled. Hope Star Trek will resurrect sometimes...
Ibis
Okay, Kes ... I'm trying to remember who that was.

She had long brown hair? Or wait, there was one girl who was pretty but she was another species that had tatooing somehow. I don't remember Voyager too well.

I didn't know that Enterprise had been cancelled. I never got to watch it because of my work schedule, but I like the guy who was the captain. Scott Bao or something like that? Just guessing now on his name, but I do know what he looks like.
stargelman
Scott Bacula. And seriously, it was aweful. Worst thing ever to happen to Trek was Enterprise. Best thing that ever happened to it was that it was cancelled after 4 seasons. The first two were ok, the third was -simply put- a disgrace.

Me, personally, I guess I'd want the flute or the chair. The flute because I really liked the episode it's from (TNG episode Inner Light), and the chair because it looks like a good computer chair! tongue.gif However, considering the price tag, I don't think it'll happen. Not because I couldn't afford it (well, the chair would be pushing it), but because I'm just not that crazy. I think. Well. I hope! wink.gif

Ah, I do tell a lie. I just remembered they also sell the runabout model. Now considering that DS9 is the best Trek show hands down, and considering the many cool episodes with that particular model in a central role ("One Little Ship" comes to mind, an episode where the Rubicon is accidently shrunk to the size of a brick while the Defiant is attacked by the Dominion), I guess that would be even better. But... the amount of money this is going to sell for is beyond good and evil.

Edit: Kes is the little blonde with the extraordinarily short life span, the lover of Neelix:

Ah Kes... Always kind and friendly (well most of the time), and with an extremely sensual voice... tongue.gif

Regarding that other woman you referred to Ibis, that was probably Jadzia Dax from Deep Space Nine. She's also very, very nice... smile.gif

Ok I'll try not to go off topic anymore...
Ibis
Oh Kes!! Yes, she is just adorable. Kinda sweet her being paired with Neelix. I don't think there even is a word invented to describe Neelix. lol

I think it was Jadzia Dax that I was describing .. yes, Deep Space Nine. She was quite fine looking and a nice sultry voice if I remember correctly and cool manners. smile.gif

I'm probably the only one but I always liked Kira best. Kick-owl tough, bad attitude and good looking = winning combination!

I wonder if they're gonna auction off all the Bajoran earring things? They were quite cool!

Starge, you're not being fair... you forgot about tough-as-nails and sexy-as-Hell's-temptress engineer from Voyager... mmm, what a woman... *drools*

EDIT: mmmm.... biggrin.gif

Ah.. B'Elanna Torres. Yeah, she was feisty! smile.gif Looks much better with the make-up than in real life though, to be honest...
Foster
Yeah, B'lanna is pretty ugly in real life, but with the strange cornish-pasty head and hair...not too bad. Personally though for Trekkiewomen you've got to look no further than the gorgeous Dax (either one, really - personally Jadzia was better), though I know there is quite a following for the old Deanna Troi.

Anyway, I find it funny that there is a bunch of this tat (no offense, but really... thousands for a toy runabout?) on sale. I remember when I was in Vegas taking a wrong turn in the Hilton and finding myself face to face with a Gorn, standing on the promenade of DS9. Freaky stuff, almost as wierd as getting sequestered by the Scientologists in Hollywood.

On an aside, did you know Patrick Stewart has tons of this tat? He like, had it in his contract to get one of the spares of everything they made more than one of, so he's probably sitting on a goldmine of futuristic spacey jumpsuits.
Ibis
Wow, maybe Patrick Stewart is the one behind the auction ... standing to get really rich. But he probably wouldn't part with his stuff that he had in his contract to get.

Stargelman, my hubby Cain likes Kira best too. He said her name immediately when I said you guys were talking about the foxiest babes of Star Trek. He started going on about her interesting nose and the beautiful earring. But, I am not a thing like her. What does that say? hmmm

Deanna Troi was pretty. So were the others mentioned. At least in makeup as you said. If I had to guess the most attractive female I would say Tasha Yar. As for men, gotta be Number One, TNG.

And for some reason, Wesley Crusher used to get really on my nerves. Did he bother anyone else?

And yes, I would love to have some of that Bajoran jewelry. wink.gif

Nah, this one is from stuff Paramount had in storage. It's not dupes, it's the originals as used in the shows.

That he... has good taste?

I never liked Deanna as much. But I really blame it on watching TNG in german for a long time, and her voice in german is incredibly annoying. Sort of like the voice of Fran Fine is supposed to be incredibly annoying but actually isn't in german.

Hell yeah! It's not the actor's fault though. The kid can act, if you give him proper script. When he was younger, he was really quite good in the movie "Stand By Me".

Another thing I wouldn't mind would be a bar stool or anything else from Quark's. I love that character. That guy really cracks me up. Maybe Morn's bar stool! That guy is hilarious, talking like a waterfall all the time!

Edit: About B. Torres: yeah, she's ok. I just didn't like Voyager all that much, and since I associate her with it...well.

Oh: What about Cassidy Yates! Now she was sweet, wasn't she?
Olav

Lol yeah Quark was hilarious. He definitely added a lot to Deep Space Nine, as did the Ferengi in general. And regarding Morn always sitting in the bar, I always found that name a bit amusing. Kind of like some reference to Norm from Cheers... smile.gif

And Wesley (can't remember his real name) - I saw him and lots of other ST characters in a special edition of 'The Weakest Link'. He was actually quite rude and degrading to most of the female contestants, and they really gave the impression that they did not like him. Of course it could all have been acting. And I also liked him in 'Stand by me'.

By the way, the actor who played Quark was also in the show, and I swear he had just as big ears as his ST character! laugh.gif He seemed like a great guy in real life, btw.

Whenever I see her, I always think "Evil woman from 24!!!!"

Now, if you're going for the occasional foxy babe appearance, Dr Leah Brahms (Blind Pew's occasion holographic/real lover-science-woman) wasn't too shabby.
milanius
Are you guys nuts ?! This woman was... is... beautiful ! mad.gif so the heck what if she's aged a bit... I'll say that miss Torres, a.k.a. Roxann Dawson, looks just fine even if she isn't half-Klingon !
Olav
laugh.gif

Well that picture was certainly the best I've seen of her, and by all means she is definitely not ugly! smile.gif But I just remember how disappointed I was (honest!) the first time I saw an interview with her after watching several seasons of Voyager. She was much to sweet and nice to be a tough Klingon, and made me feel like I had been cheated after watching the show! biggrin.gif She was in fact my favorite Voy character until I watched that interview.

Aren't we humans shallow? (well at least I am...) tongue.gif
