For me, it's definately horror. I don't see why anyone would like to be disturbed, creepy is fun, disturbing is not...

I don't think Saw is horror. I think the movie sucks, too. It's just doing though with blood and because of the open ending we have to wait till Saw 3...
Ontopic, I don't think a specefic (specific? I don't know the spelling, sorry

) genre sucks. Every genre has ups and downs, I think you just gotta have a verdict on each movie in particular.

I was going to vote for horror, but then i thought about "House of 1000 Corpses".
can't vote against rob zombie, or either of his films. the first is just plain surreal and insane, the second is one of the grittiest movies i've ever seen.

I hate romantic movies. Most of them at least. They just are soooooo boring and the give me the snivels (is that the word you use in english?).
But there are a few good ones, When Harry met Sally is watchable and Tin Cup.
I don't find romantic movies romantic. If I watch a romantic movie with my boyfriend I just get embarrased. If I want to watch something romantic I'd rather watch LOTR or why not Spiderman

That sucks for sure, there's always a 'wise lesson' in it, which you can just feel coming and it annoys you when it actually comes out in the end - most of the time by the main character that does something stupid and learns from the mistake. Why not just make a great story with a victorious ending and thats it? I guess actual children for who the movies are made get sick of it too...

Horror. There
are horror movies I like, but they are few and far between.
I don't like being scared too much, and I feel horror relys too much are the 'jump out and scare you' and 'be as gorey as budget allows'. And most have really crappy story to them.

I still think horror is the worst...it's not particularly scary, it's just so predictable, and unexiting.
Thriller is a whole other dimension of the movie world....they are exiting, nervewracking, and often directly.....scary to watch, but you still keep on watching them....since it's so tense....so thats my point of vieuw.

I don't have a certain movie genre which I hate with a passion. Out of all these, I would have to pick romance, because of the very predictable plot and the stupid portrayal of single people as unhappy, depressed or suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Romantic comedies are horrible with Romance probably being even worse(I don't even dare to watch those). And guess what, the rest of the family loves them while I just go: ,,AAAARGH, stop the freaking kissing and get a life!"
Umm yeah, that probably means that every movie dissappoints me at some point. The only movies that I have seen without a single kiss are those children movies.
And I don't like horror.
On the other hand, Science-fiction rocks. Unfortunately most of them are of the 'lots-of-flashes-but-no-plot-or-decent-thinking-about-even-the-most-basic-of-physics' kind. Still, there are a few good ones like 2001: A space oddyssey. Only bad thing there is that the ending was just confusing if you didn't read the book.

I dislike horror movies. I perceive horror movies to be like Night of the Living Dead and Chain Saw Massacre and that sort of thing that is mindless and bloody and doesn't have much plot or point.
Now I really do love Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock which I think are in the catagory of Thrillers. I really like these that bend your mind and bend reality and your whole perception of it. These kind of movies make you think in ways you never did before.

I abselutly love horror! Hot chicks, stalking lessons, pointless sex, and watching complete idiots get what they deserv.
"Mmmm... The lights just whent out in our cabin in the middel of nowhere and there are wierd noises coming from outside. Let me go check it out wile I'm half naked, without a weapon and no one to cover my back."

I voted for 'other', I despise romantic comedies because they are ALWAYS THE SAME FREAKING MOVIE!!!!
Ahem...
Man: Wow, that woman over there is very good looking I will go talk to her.
Woman: I haven't had a date in a long time, I wish some man would talk to me.
Man: Hello, pretty person, let's become a couple for a while and be happy.
Woman: I'm hard to get so just wait a sec... Ok, let's go.
Man: This is going great, I have a secret that I haven't told you and it really isn't that big of a deal but you should flip out anyway.
Woman: AHHH! Why didn't you tell me you wear your shoes on the wrong feet when we first started dating? Woe is me! My love is lost forever!
Man: Hey best friend of mine that got put in this movie for comic relief, what should I do?
Man's friend: Blah Blah Blah, tell her the truth, Blah Blah Blah, tell her you love her, Blah Blah Blah, insert witty/funny remark to make people laugh.
Man: YES! You are wise my firend! YOU should have been in the lead role this entire movie!
Man: Hello pretty person, I love you.
Woman: grumble grumble, I LOVE YOU!
The End.

It would have to be romance films. It's basically the same story recycled in hundred's of different settings. Guy meets girl, guy falls in love, guy eventually gets girl, all live happily ever after. (the guy and girl are swapped in some films, but same premise)

Thank whoever is in charge that we've got remotes. Unless you go see one in the cinema, you can always switch channels.

And yes, I also don't understand why women, and men, would wish to pull of something like that in front of a camera. What we humans don't do for money. Disgusting.
So let us all praise the remotes!

Star Trek: TNG might be corny at times, but the original series were first to introduce tangible, 'realistic' wiew of science in the future, as well as moral dilemmas and choices into the whole Space Opera sub-genre of SF. Star Trek isn't 1/100 hillarious and corny as Star Wars movies

I mean, laserfire that can be heard in vacuum... silly.
jack cloudy
Aug 5 2006, 08:47 PM
Phasers can also be seen in vacuum. And Star Wars lasers are just bad. Loud, flashy, SLOW bolts of something. Man, lasers are basically a lot of light going into one direction so they should be as fast as light. (not radiating in every direction. The only time you shoulde be able to see a laser is when you are hit by it. And this is not pleasant with weapons grade lasers. Fortunately we don't have those, yet.)
So forget about guys with glowing clubs bouncing those things back. They would get their behind fried before they could say 'the force'.
And for those who want to know, I read that light travels nearly 300,000 km each second. A bit lower actually if I'm right, but it is still enough for several rounds around earth.
