Whether they're in Commonwealth, Mojave or the Capital Wasteland, you're invited to post pics or write about homes of your characters.

Today I'll show you Rattler's hideout in the Capital Wasteland, made by me.

__

The Den of the Rattlesnake

A distance west of Germantown Police HQ and east of Paradise Falls, on one of many hills in that area, there's a dilapidated shack partly built into a rock towering above it. It served as hideout for some junkies but a notorious slaver from Paradise Falls recently killed them, placed their remains on display and moved in. Now nobody dares to approach the shack anymore. indifferent.gif

View from below

Screenies taken at night make things more difficult to see but they're better for overall mood in this case. To the right there's a campfire, left of it there's a half-buried corpse of one of the junkies, lying right below wooden stairs leading to the shack. One junkie has been stuck on a pole to the left, one has been hooked right on the main door, and another one is hanging to the right of the entrance.

View from the other side

There's pile of junk to the right of the shack, along with a broken cabinet and some empty barrels. Paradise Falls can be seen in the background

Going up the stairs

right into

the Den of the Rattlesnake,

that can only be unlocked with the specific key.

Welcome!

That's what we see when stepping in. Looks quite scruffy and messy, doesn't it? There's a skeleton greeting us while eternally burning in the barrel with one of the junkies hanging on a chain right behind him. Planks on the left make way to "the loft". Obviously the one who lives there, likes cigarettes, jet and whiskey.

View from the other side

Specifically, from the burning gentleman's perspective. There's a table next to the door with one chair behind it, and one on the top of it. There's a broken refrigerator on the other side of the door and a mutilated arm of one of the junkies next to the lawn chair.

Table full of flesh,

and human at that.

They're hard to spot but there are empty syringes all over the shack, implying the owner's addiction to Med-X. As more time passes, the shack will be even more messy, there'll be cigarette butts, empty packs and cartons and even more empty bottles tossed all over the place.

Bathroom of sort

located under the planks.

View from "the loft"

Not much is up there, only one dirty mattress and a view of another junkie.

Ssskull

Which was drawn by the new landlord.

Time to meet him

Wow, Chez Rattler is as gruesome as the snake himself. Well thought through and put together. Good to know where he lives so we can avoid it and alert the bounty hunters. biggrin.gif The last shot is a great one of the Rattler with his red bandana and pipsnake on his forearm.
Renee
Well... I think it's safe to say that Rattler's home will never be featured in Better Homes & Gardens magazine. :lol; I think he needs some Feng Shui assistance too!

Just kidding. Knowing Rattler, this is a perfect place for him. I want this home in my game when I finally get my first character rolling. Not that my character will live there; it'll just be this place nobody goes, because of all the rumors surrounding it.

Is that a chair on top of a table I see in that final pic? Tsk tsk...
SubRosa
Welcome to Lifestyles of the Rich and Conscienceless! Casa de Diablo Serpiente looks like scary place!
Winter Wolf
That is a sweet den that suits our lovable Rattlesnake! Well, maybe not lovable, just misunderstood, or from a neglected childhood, or something... laugh.gif

It really suits him. The creepy atmosphere and drifting rays of light through those shack walls are just perfect. I miss that look that FO3 achieved. I love that eternally burning skeleton. That is epic!

I will post some pics from the Commonwealth next week.

mirocu
I like this thread. Makes it easy for my character to find places with even more loot to sell and become... eh.. Ne´er mind, folks... biggrin.gif

I have a few pics from my character´s Megaton home but it´s nothing special. Lots of teddy bears on the bed, that´s about it. Apart from various stuff in containers but you don´t see that on the pics anyway. Oh, and I have the nostalgic 50´s decoration.

I'll make sure to surround that place with lots of powerful mines before I send the mod to you, in case any of yours decide to approach the shack nonetheless. evillol.gif

Joke aside, Rattler's plan in the near future is to place lots of mines in a neat circle around the shack.

I don't believe you until I've seen some pics. tongue.gif And TBH, I already forgot how the 50s decoration looks like.

Loviatar's pad looks perfect for her. goodjob.gif

I can imagine the notes she was taking: 'Eating the subject's arm resulted in strenuous protests. Severing his head stopped the vocalizations. . . . ' ohmy.gif
Winter Wolf
Nice pad!

I had visions of Loviatar living with Mutant gore bags and bodies hanging upside down from hooks. laugh.gif

Love the computer and notes! She is obviously trying to cultivate a further side to her personality- next perhaps dinner with some fava beans and a nice chianti. laugh.gif

Be careful with that lunchbox...ahh...bottlecap mine.

Lopov
Loviatar had to destroy an entire town so she could build a home for herself. laugh.gif

Her lair is bloody-scientific. I like her naval cot, it fits in better than a proper bed.
Renee
What a huge difference between Loviatar's mad scientist's lair, and Rattler's hole in the ground. In each case though, their home suits them, totally.

I'm ready for Winter Wolf's home, if his lady friend has one, that is.

Cho doesn't really have a home. And Marge N. Overra had the regular Megaton home, nothing really exciting there.

Winter Wolf
Thanks Renee!

Chalice has several homes that she uses.

The Settlement at Sanctuary-

The flag is planted!

Power is needed to run everything

It rises into the sky

Garage and workstation

Everyone needs a change of pace

A glance backwards

Enclave flag just to annoy the Brotherhood!

Gym

At Far Harbor Chalice has a nice little beach cottage (using a house mod)-

Outside view

Fishtank!

Lounge Room

An old friend is above the desk

Kitchen

After a day killing Mutants it is time to clean up!

Bedroom

You can have over 30 settlements in the game as well as a large number of house mods. I use these two as my main base with several others in the pipe works.
Acadian
Wolf, both those places look great!

The Sanctuary one almost looks like some of mirocu's home projects that went a mite astray. biggrin.gif Love the anime posters in the gym.

The Far Harbor cottage looks wonderfully cozy!
SubRosa
Uh oh, looks like The South's Gonna Do It Again in Sanctuary!

Sanctuary may look a little dilapidated, but it sure is well defended!

Neat that you can build a basketball court.

Black Flag!

The anime posters must be from a mod! laugh.gif But the W girl is missing?

The fish tank is cool! But it looks like its about to burst! ohmy.gif

It's ED-E! And I even note a bobblehead.

I love how the sponge even floats in the tub water.

The Mr. House and Vera Keyes posters are some cool NV swag.
Lopov
Both of Chalice's homes look great, I'm partial to the cottage myself, just because well I like cottages more. tongue.gif

Sanctuary home seems really big, and even it comes with its own garage - how some about car or motorcycle mod? wink.gif

Hey, there's a dog too in the Garage and Workstation pic.

I love the Enclave flag to annoy the Brotherhood. laugh.gif

So the cottage is government property? bigsmile.gif

A fisthank! How cool is that. I don't see any radfish, though.

There's another pic to annoy the Brotherhood if they ever come inside the house.

Is that House's pic on the wall in the last shot?
Winter Wolf
Acadian- Yes, it does look like Mirocu's house-building project™ has blown up the building. laugh.gif The only thing missing is bottlecaps and teddy bears everywhere.

SubRosa- There are so many items in the workshop that I have not even touched the surface. I am only using a simple turrent defense. Heaps of people have trap door floors, spikes and poles that impale, laser weapons, pop-up items, spinning items that explode, everything!

Ahh yes, the W girl. Thanks, I have just fixed that. She was downstairs talking to another poster. laugh.gif I have just put her back in her rightful place. bigsmile.gif Yes, it is a mod!

Lopov- There are heaps of vehicle and motorcycle mods out there. Most only use the fast travel system but I have seen one that combines elements of the Automatron DLC into it. The modder put a chair ontop of a robot frame and you can sit on it and race around Boston. Looks great but the author said the roads were too bumpy and resulted in too many collisions. laugh.gif

Yes, House gets a big tip of the hat in that mod!

The Far Harbor house is great if you want to explore the south of the map. I have just found another cool mod that suits the top of the map. The house might be too similar to my south one which is my only complaint. kvleft.gif

Check it out!

Sorry about the casino music...Lol.
Renee
Wow, WW. Christ, some of those pics look like old-fashioned photographs, rather than computer art or comic-bookish art.

I love the gym. So I take it she lives in a settlement? Meaning you were able to build all of that, or scavenge it? That looks fun. It's so weird how settlements have polarized the Fallout community so much.

Her Far Harbor house is sooo cute.....
Winter Wolf
Renee- Thanks! Yes, Chalice lives in the Sanctuary settlement, which is the same area that your character starts the game at. The place looks very much run-down from the pristine place we see in the introduction. Most of the buildings can be scrapped for things like steel and wood and you can build your own grand structure in its place. Of course you can just leave it like that and drop down a bed and some storage and just play the game instead!

Settlements are hit and miss for me. Some things I like, others not so much. Each settlement is a part of the same game cell and has no loading, so there must be a limitation there. House mods can still be downloaded and they work like old Beth games by loading to a separate cell.

I just wish Beth gave me more story DLC and not more stupid settlement add-ons.

**

One project I am toying with is building a house based on the Megaton floor plan.

It is nice and simple and makes me long for the brilliant FO3 again.

Unfortunately I do not have access to workbenches or chemistry stations but will add them to the house once I get level 2 perk of Local Leader. Should be in a few more level ups.

Another strange thing is that I cannot find a refrigerator in the settlement building. I know that some things are locked off until you find the skill magazines, otherwise not sure.

This is a bare bones WIP.

Welcome to Megaton

I will add the extra items when I can and drop more personal items to give it a more lived-in look.

Acadian
Like you, I think a simple, almost industrial, look is pretty neat. Basically, a warehouse with a loft. Plenty of room and not broken up into too many rooms. Nice. smile.gif

And as an Aussie, I'm sure you know the beautiful symphony that rain can play on a tin roof. happy.gif
mirocu
What a nifty idea for a house, mr Wolf, basing it on the Megaton house layout. I´m sure that´s what I would have done too if I played FO4 smile.gif
Lopov
Great work, Winter Wolf, the house almost looks like its counterpart in the Capital Wasteland. Especially the pic View from the door stands out - if someone showed me only that pic, I'd think that someone improved FO3 graphics.
Lopov
Blondie lives in Novac, she has a small house between railroad tracks and the motel. The house is from another mod called Novac House, but I edited it both outside and inside. I added a wrecked car, a fence, a mailbox and empty milk bottles under it, and a lawn chair.

The house from behind, featuring two more lawn chairs and a dumpster.

That's what we see when stepping in - the living room. On the left there's a helmet that belonged to infamous Vulpes Inculta, behind it there's guitar, a rare item in the Mojave, Blondie brought it from the Sierra Madre.

Living room from the other angle, there's Guts, her faithful four-legged companion in the bedroom.

Bedroom - looks like even bounty hunters sleep with teddy bears.

Bedroom from the other angle - Blondie especially likes the LOADED and Duck and Cover posters.

Desk of unique weapons - the top left pistol is in fact a detonator used to blowing up nukes in the Divide. Right in front of it is Maria, the weapon with which Blondie was shot in her head. In front of it it Sweet Revenge, a mod-added revolver which Blondie used to kill her nemesis Marko. To the right there's a rare throwing knife and Commanchero, which belonged to notorious Red Bear. In the top right there's a ballistic fist, not a unique weapon but a rare item nonetheless.

Bathroom - and a view to admire.

Kitchen - a door in the right leads to the basement.

Basement - it's quite a mess but which basement isn't? Mercy, a unique grenade gun rests atop the desk next to the fully modded chainsaw.

Three safes - but which one is real? Definitely not the opened one and neither it's the visible one. The third safe is hidden behind the poster. There Blondie is saving for her pension.
Acadian
Great shots of Chez Blondie! I love all the posters and wall art and her dog is gorgeous. She's got some impressive looking weaponry; that must be to help Guts protect the sleeping teddy bear. tongue.gif
SubRosa
One of the things I like about Fallout 3 and NV are that the towns have plenty of room to add new buildings to them. The Skyrim cities tend to be tightly packed, so that adding modded homes can be difficult.

Hey it's a poster of Vera Keyes!

Let's hope Blondie is not Loaded! ohmy.gif

I recognize Maria right off, and the detonater. I am guessing the pistol at lower left is That Gun? The others I don't know.

Given her penchant for posters, I am starting to think that Blondie is kind of gay! hubbahubba.gif laugh.gif
Lopov
Most posters are from the Sierra Madre Casino which fascinated Blondie. Not to mention that the Sierra Madre (Dead Money) is the favorite DLC of Blondie's creator. cool.gif

All uniques except the old revolver are in mint condition because Blondie relies only on her unique MF Hyperbreeder Alpha energy gun. I had to check whether it's That Gun in question but turns out it's not - it's Pro Patria, a weapon from the New Vegas Bounties mod.

Speaking of Blondie's orientation - she's bisexual and lately she's been more involved with women.

Stop leading SubRosa astray!!

Sweet house Lopov. smile.gif

I am surprised that the doggie has not pulled the Vulpes Inculta helmet off the top and dragged it around the house. Lol. I especially love the bathroom and kitchen. Quite an eye-full there. laugh.gif

Neat looking chainsaw downstairs in the basement. Just imagine the carnage that thing could carry out.
Lopov
Lee Cyeng lived in the bando for some time before Freesiders set it on fire. That doesn't actually happen in the game but I set it on fire with the GECK after Lee did / was forced to do some bad things in Freeside as a part of War Trash mod.

Now he lives in the Gypsum Trainyard House. The mod has whopping 52 downloads but for me it's much better than most of overpowered homes featured on the Nexus. You actually have to deserve this house as it's surrounded by deathclaws. Even more, deathclaws respawn so it's possible that when returning home, you encounter more of them. Respawning usually takes a few days to occur, though, just like in Fallout 3. But I think that's what Lee prefers - when he's away for a long time, deathclaws watch over his house and when he comes back, he deals with them and watches over the house on his own. He decorated the interior with cut off deathclaw hands. Apart from that, the interior is unchanged.
Renee
You set his original house on fire? laugh.gif You pyromaniac! And now he has to come home to deathies waiting for him if he doesn't return in enough time. What a life. I hope he didn't get a fixed rate mortgage during a sub-prime market, that would be the real bummer.
SubRosa
The peasants came with torches and pitchforks to burn Lee out! biggrin.gif I don't think I would like that War Trash mod.

The Gypsum house sounds like you have to be a real badass to live there! That might be a great place for Persephone or Loviatar.

It was Freesiders who set his bando on fire, not me. tongue.gif Lee didn't feel that sorry for it, though, neither he kept anything of value inside. It's an interesting home mod but more suitable for some raider character or a drug dealer.

I didn't know until today that there exists a home in the middle of the deathclaw infested trainyard. When Lee cleared the place, I went to the Nexus to see if there are some mods that affect this area and that's how I found this eemmmersssive house.

Me too thinks that you wouldn't like War Trash unless your character would be prepared to do anything to stay undercover and unveil plans of War Trash. You have chances during the mod to protest and fight your superiors, so you're not forced to play the mod to the end. Lee Cyeng, however, had to play along, else his shady bosses from the NCR would set of a remote bomb in his PipBoy. That's how they're keeping Lee on a short leash.

So the mod is suitable for Lee Cyeng's game but that's about it, as I said in another thread, the mod massively changes the Mojave and that's not something I'd want in my other playthroughs. It has a sequel, though, but that one apparently doesn't affect the Mojave as much as the first one and it's more buggy because it was done in a shorter time.

The trainyard house at night
Renee
You can go into the GECK with that second home mod activated and just see if there are any M symbols around that house. Try that, maybe. Or maybe they'll show up as actual deathclaws. And then just delete each one.

Off-topic, but in Oblivion I recently put a friendly minotaur lord outside of Morcath's* house (SubRosa's Witchcraft mod) so there's always some sort of fearsome protection outside of it.

*sorry if I misspelled her name.
Lopov
No, you got me wrong, I "like" deathclaws around the house, I never wanted to delete them. It actually feels like you deserved the house once you deal with them. smile.gif
Renee
Oh I see. So when Lee comes home, it's almost like when Inspector Clouseau (Pink Panther) returns home as well, and gets attacked every time. rollinglaugh.gif

I made a rentable flat for Cho this week. What I did was duplicated the Tenpenny Player Home, and then gutted most of its contents, so it's rather like moving into an empty apartment with only basic stuff. I made a "housing agent" NPC who Cho can talk to once per month to renew his rental terms. This costs 500 caps per month. He can also buy the place too, if he ever gets 5000 caps.

Everything works! It's all controlled by scripts. Cho wants to rent the place? He pays 500 caps, and its door gets unlocked for a month. He wants to buy it? This costs 5,000 caps. He gets a key in this case. salute.gif

I'll eventually decorate it more to his tastes, and I'll probably add a door which goes outside, but it'll go outside right above the area where we walk into Tenpenny, know what I mean? He'll be able to walk right above the main door where we enter the tower. I think there's a flat area there which we can walk upon...

SubRosa
Wow, you have really gotten good with scripting. It always gives me headaches.
Lopov
Hey, Renee, how about you publish that mod on the Nexus? I'd definitely download it.
Renee
Wow for real?? smile.gif See I get nervous about putting stuff on Nexus. People can get harsh there, and some of them will expect some fantastic mod which adds all sorts of buyable stuff and features to get added. And really, the only feature I'm interested in is making the renting part work, because that part seems rather unique, right? So I don't know about Nexus, but I can share it with you directly though for sure. Maybe I can put it on one of those Drop Box sites.

If I put it on Nexus, I'd have to write it so that Allistair offers us the rentable flat after we do some work for him, because it wouldn't make sense plot wise if he just says to anyone who shows up "hey I've got this place for rent." Allistair seems a lot more particular than that.

This works for Cho, because he's already done some work for Allistair. In Cho's game though, Allistair was nowhere to be found! Using the console's moveto command put Cho outside, where there was no Allistair. laugh.gif So I made a duplicate of Allistair, who merely sits outside (on the far balcony where he shoots stuff) 24/7. Because plot-wise, we speak to any Tenpenny resident who isn't generic, then this resident points us toward Allistair, then Allistair points us toward a "housing agent." After this moment, we only deal with the housing agent.

Maybe I could write the plot different though, if you find speaking to the Allistair duplicate too jarring. What do you think?
Lopov
QUOTE(Renee @ Oct 24 2017, 02:06 PM) *

Wow for real?? smile.gif

I was just joking, your mod suckz. laugh.gif

Okay, back to being serious, I would use that mod if you either published it on the Nexus or somewhere else but maybe it'd make sense to create a custo NPC (the housing agent) that'd stand in the lobby and you could hire the flat from him directly, what do you think?
Lopov
As mentioned, Lee Cyeng's current home is Gypsum Hideout which is a train distributor converted into a living space. To make the place more homey, he decorated the interior with cut-off deathclaw hands.

Foyer (four deathclaw hands, two on the left, one on the right on the bench and one on the fridge)

Kitchen and living room (the one on the fridge is now better visible, later on he added another on the roulette table)

Sort of bedroom (two hands, one on the jukebox and one on the closet)

Eggs on display (eggs of some of the most dangerous creatures of the Mojave, from top to bottom: cazador egg, nightstalker egg, deathclaw egg, later he added eggs of both fire and golden geckos)

House at night (before graffiti and decorations)

Later on he put some signs outside his house and a very unique doorknob

But it wasn't enough so he put some hands outside too

And on the south side as well

He also dragged some skeletons and put them to work, one in the bulldozer

And another one in the truck

Ally "Gator" lives on Duchess Gambit together with her girlfriend Nadine - they removed most of Tobar's junk from the engine room and refurnished it with two simple naval cots, some containers and two posters which they had found rolled up on the steamboat. Ally's favorite piece of furniture is the Nuka Lamp on top of the dresser.

View 1

View 2

Some weapons like the Gatling Laser and the Fertilizer Shovel are too big to fit into any containers so they remain outside. The garden gnome in the screenshots is an intact one!

This room looked a bit different before I lost the mod which edited it (see the mods thread) but I like it even more now.

P.S.
Ally & Nadine aren't completely alone on the steamboat, there's also Barney, a faithful protectron that does exactly what his name suggests - protects the girls.

SubRosa
I would be nervous sleeping under the Radiation King!

Lopov
The mod which I've used for Blondie's house in Novac (featured earlier in this thread) is no longer at the Nexus, its author was banned because of racist remarks, and looks like they removed all of his files too. Anyway, before moving to the house she had lived in the motel room, and now she's back there but with some improvements which I added myself, because I was getting bored of its vanilla looks.

Nice! That's quite a lot of red. I guess Blondie doesn't get bugged by the picture hanging askew over her bed. laugh.gif She's got bigger things to worry about.
SubRosa
It does look good. And since it is only one small room it would not be hard to recreate on your own if anyone wanted to, using the pictures as a guide. The crooked picture would have to be fixed for me.
