Who went too far with which comment? Am I not allowed to make a joke because the Mods from Official Site have Emotional Trauma? Am I not allowed to express my opinion in any way shape or form if it does not praise thier latest release? Is this Bethstapoism?

Or was the Moderator completely correct and justified in closing a thread that he felt was 'flame bait' and threw in his own two cents for good measure?

Normally, I wouldnt cry about something this minor..., but I am. And would like YOUR two cents. I will not strike back at the Moderator in any way, I still respect them for what they have to put up with, it just seems that this one has dealt with a tad bit too much...

First of all, I would not have closed the topic because of your remark! Now it could be at least three reasons for that;

1. I am old enough to recognise a joke or sarcastic-funny post when I see it, and then laugh at it!

2. I also did not find anything offensive in the post

3. I haven´t had the misfortune to deal with a lot of flaming and banning issues, so I tend to take this a bit easier maybe, or I´m just rather easy-going!


On the other hand, I also kinda "know" that mod (before she became a mod that is)...and she´s really very nice. Now I reckon the mods at ES really had a hard time dealing with those flame-wars. Personally I stayed out of it. I didn´t even visit the forums, didn´t have to, I had and still have Chorrol! So I think the ES mods are very sensitive to all remarks about OB vs MW, more sensitive than normal. That is, in my opinion why she closed it.

Also I am not very familiar with problems of the kind they had at ES, we barely had anything even like it here. Of course there have been issues here but not that much.

I think she did what she thought was right, also wanting to stop anything that have even the most remote risk of developing into something....not-so -nice

But I am still in favor of people´s rights to express themselves, and making jokes...

Unfortunately there are always ppl who doesn´t appreciate a all kinds of jokes.

Now one last remark...

I kinda "know" you and the way you express yourself, and I personally like it, so I might not be the most objective person I must admit...

Well yeah, I kinda got your back in anything to Minky, so I'm biased to you too. Its not so much that Im offended by it. It's just kinda hard for me to understand where this Mod was coming from.

And when they do close threads like that out of frustration, it does nothing to polish their tarnished reputations, again, not putting the individual actions down, but its like I dropped a hamburger wrapper from a car, and then the SWAT team shows up!

Well you got to understand.. Topics like that do cause flame wars and mods really got to use their time to make sure that they don't go overboard when they could potentially be doing something to help someone.

Personally I think its pretty funny, but I do see where the mods are coming from. Maybe they are as upset as we are over the fact that Oblivion pretty much failed in several areas. Doesn't make it a bad game or anything but because Beth decided to dilute it from being to "hardcore" it really turned off a lot of fans.

Well, I actaully perfer Oblivion over Morrowind...... But then I never really got into Morrowind, it was a great game, I just wasn't exactly on the same page. Still I wish Oblivion had thrown weapons, crossbows, and stuff from Morrowind.

I never got very far, only say, level three..... I got killed a lot by some creature. And I thought the combat was a little sticky....... just my opinion. I love bows, but I almost never managed to hit anything.....

I think closing was justified, official forums aren't the place for opinions and jokes, it invites spam and official forums are where people go for a quick search for help or information, the topic didn't help anyone and invites spam. Inofficial forums like these are the place for jokes and opinions because it attracts regular forum users rather than 100 people a day who are all thinking the same thing and who will express it regardless of what it means for the other people trying to find useful info.
