Hi everyone,
just came back from work when I saw this:
SG-1 Ends Run; Atlantis Back
SCI FI Channel confirmed that it will not renew its record-breaking original series Stargate SG-1 for another season, but will pick up its spinoff series Stargate Atlantis for a fourth year. SG-1 aired its 200th episode on Aug. 18, and the SF series is the longest-running SF show on American television.

I am saddened

... SG1 original was one of my favo TV shows ever. And Carter is my hero since I was a W.A.F. myself. Hmmm, I heard that they had been combining SGi and SG Atlantis themes together in episodes sometimes. So, is it possible that some of the SG1 characters will appear on Atlantis? Hope so!

I never got into it since the movie blew (and it made David Spade's list of things you missed while busy being cool) but what's the difference between SG1 and Atlantis? Also, what's the general plot? I remember the movie was about them making a stargate and going to another planet, where some evil god was oppressing people and they had to whoop his boat before going back.

HEhe, they didn't make it, they found it. The Stargate is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond human technology lol. As for the other questions...there's way too much stuff for me to answer them. Plus i'm a lazy bumb

*My lips are sealed tighter'n the stargate = the plot is too good to tell. And when did David Spade drift into the center of the universe of critical acclaim, any way???
Ibis goes away grumbling *** ... David Spade? Isn't he Finch??

Ibis

Maybe .. is the movie the pilot episode? I bought it at Blockbuster. I'm not aware if it is the pilot because I've never seen SG Atlantis on tv. Maybe someone else knows.

I guess theres a possibility another network will take it on...
From wiki
On August 21st 2006, the Sci Fi Channel announced that they would not be renewing Stargate SG-1 after a series of poor performances in the Nielsen Ratings. Naturally, fans were enraged at the news, and spokespersons for the production have said options are being considered. According to the fansite www.gateworld.net, "executive producer Robert Cooper isn't counting Stargate SG-1 out yet."
However, this announcement of the series cancellation is innacurate. MGM/Sony hold the rights to the series and the Sci Fi Channel merely order episodes from MGM. As of the present time, no network or company has ordered new episodes of SG-1, so the show is effectively on hold, until a new buyer can be found. MGM has expressed a desire to continue the series, but an avenue has not yet been found. [1]
A similar incident occured in 2001 when Showtime descided not to pick up Stargate SG-1 for a 6th season, it was only a matter of months before MGM received an offer from Scifi to renew the series on their network.
