You think that's bad, in my day they used to have big school assemblies where Ronald McDonald would come and brainwash us.

...now that's pure evil...I think it's hypocritical like in the us they fight a war against terrorism but the true evil comes from their own country lol
The Metal Mallet
I remember Ronald coming to our school. We sang a song about how it doesn't matter if you have big feet.

*shudder*

Now, this may seem random but what we obviously see here is a corrolation to 1984.

Electric shock therapy used to attack the unconscious, to psychologically condition people to behave and conform?

Bussinesses training young children to whine and scream for anything they want and not stop till they get it.

Both things were in 1984, and both things are used today... DUNT DUNT DUNNNNNN!!!

Thats sick . . and no I'm not talking about Ronald.

Its like they're pets, dogs. indifferent.gif

That's just American schools trying to catch up to Japanese obedience standards.. unfortunately, people =/= robots.
milanius
What can I say ? We haven't progressed much, we, the Human race... this is Uncivilisation, allright.

When finding the perfect treatment for your disobedient child, there is no limit to what you will try.

Belt= $39

Collar+Leash= $67

Psychiatrist= $239

Electroshock therapy= Priceless

There are some things money can't buy (because they're illegal). For everything else there's mastercard.

Now on a more serious note, I'm really not surprised to see these kinds of activities going on...I definately disagree with these methods but I'm not surprised to see them being used in the least. I think that so long as there are people, there will be disgusting tactics used in an attempt to make them more obedient.
DoomedOne
Actually kiln electric shock therapy is a good $2099 per child.

Molesting them and then telling them if they misbehave you'll do it again... priceless

Funny post Kiln.

What they are doing alot here in Florida schools is the Tazer. If any kid makes a disruption or won't listen to the teacher, the police get called (especially if they are carrying a lethal weapon like a penknife or nail clippers). The child is isolated and then the police rush in en masse and tazer the kid.

Parents are doing legislation to stop this but the teachers are saying that they are at risk. Everyone's afraid now that there have been school shootings & stuff.
Pisces
Man it seems weird when people talk about stuff like that in the US. On another forum an American was talking about how a kid when into their school with a small amount of explosives and blew up a toilet block for fun, and the responce from other Americans was "How did he manage to get past metal detectors and dogs?", metal detectors? Dogs? I was thinking "How in god's name did he get explosives?". Soooooooooooo glad I don't live in America.

Also its really strange that Ronald McDonald came to your school, my mum would be complaining heaps if that happened here, advertising unhealthy food in school kvleft.gif Though mind you I find it strange Americans have flags in their schools so I suppose they would be used to propaganda.
Ibis
Of course Ronald McDonald comes to the schools and waves hamburgers at the kids as propaganda.

Just like your KFE - Kentucky Fried Emu Restaurants - spread propaganda to New Zealand kids. biggrin.gif

But seriously, Cain was a toilet explosive expert in grade school so this isn't new. All you need is some sulfur and you wrap it in a bunch of paper towels and flush it .... flush/kerbooom!!

Then he started being a firebug, but they made him a junior fireman and let him ride on the truck and hang at the station and all ... and that took care of that tendency of boyhood.

Guys are weird ... females just need shopping malls. biggrin.gif
Pisces
OMG, girls and shopping!! I get bored after 10 minutes of shopping, I can not understand how girls manage to spend so much time in a mall.
jack cloudy
Wow, now this is weird. (Not to mention it sounds really unpleasant to get such a shocking experience.)

I wonder if they get zapped for being too late for class? That would mean that quite a few local students here would get at least 8 zappings a day! They're always too late. blink.gif (Don't ask me how.)

I think we're lucky here. Legally, the farthest a teacher may go (and regularly does) is to yell at everyone and make you feel like you're the worst piece of dung ever to grace the planet. smile.gif

Things are over-dramatized by those parents. That almost never happens.

Sure, the cops that come use tazers, but not on people that are talking in class or anything silly like that. The tazer is reserved for those inflicting bodily harm on someone else and won't stop.

Quite right Danny.

I guess it's a good thing I'm not a cop then, all they'd have to do is piss me off. laugh.gif
Ibis
I think that's what happens sometimes .. they get pissed off that they get called and someone has to get tased. Actually, I can't remember all the details being childless but it seems that sometimes the weapons are slightly exagerated. Like they'll have a small penknife and someone sees it and tells the teacher they have a knife and the teacher pictures a large knife and calls the cops.

The reason I got out of the Educational Major in college was that I went on a trial teacher's assistant job and found myself in a downtown Dayton Ohio innner city shcool with high locked fences, dogs, walky-talky carrying teachers and deans of discipline and some rrreallllllyyy tough kids! I changed my Major fast after that!

Later when I was in the Air Force I didn't see so much show of force all in one place. indifferent.gif

I once blew up a toilet in my school. Hmmm... I kind of want to go back to see if they ever fixed the last toilet on the left in the main hall lower bathroom.
Ibis
hehe ... no, they probably never fixed it. The stall probably is blocked by a plaque saying "This Toilet Is Doomed" !!! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Fire....fire gooooooooooooooooood biggrin.gif
All boys have a phase of being pyromaniacs biggrin.gif

And i'm like Pisces, i still don't understand how girls/women can spend all day in a shop, especially clothes shopping. I get bored out of my skull within minutes
Ibis
Well, harking back to cave days - perhaps boys all have a firebug stage because fire was so essential to survival for early mankind.

And women were the gatherers of the hunter/gatherer arrangement. So, no longer needing figs & berries we gather clothing and other shopping type stuff? Doesn't sound as important as fire skills. But women are very visual about how they look so always buying new looks is fun. Accumulating has the same thrill for a gatherer that hunting skills have for a hunter.

BTW - I had that explained as the reason why men don't like to ask directions. One of the primary hunting skills was finding and tracking the game. So if a guy couldn't find the way ... he'd die. It is an admission of weakness to ask rather than find. So I was told anyways. huh.gif

Wow, I just realized how logical that was, but I would likely swallow my pride and ask directions if I had too. tongue.gif I'm actually pretty good with a map, at least ones of Ontario....
