How's the weather right now where you live?

Here in Finland it SUCKS! It snowed again this morning, and now it is melting a bit. But we still have lots of it, I like snow, but this kind of snow is not nice. There's water under it, and it gathers in the streets like porridge, making my feet and pants soaking wet :(
milanius
It's spring, nature's favourite time of the year for floods sad.gif northern parts of Serbia, especially arround river Danube and several other rivers, is having [SELF-CENSORSHIP]loads of trouble, because water levels are highest in 40 years - the only time we had worse floods here on Danube was back in 1965.
I can only imagine what it's like in Hungary and Romania sad.gif damnit, this is the second consecutive year with floods...
ThanadoS
those floods come every year... i wonder why people don't invest their cash in flood protection meassures... or the states, instead of weapons, etc.
It's April anyways... and april in Austria means you can have everything: From Sunshine to thunderstorm, from hail over snow to pouring rain.
Fethenwen
Wow, that sounds bad.

Floods here look like small ponds compared to that.

ThePerson98
Oklahoma=Tornado Alley=Tornado season. Coming in a few weeks.
Warming up to spring weather though
Fuzzy Knight
Pretty warm, sunny and some clouds here in Norways - Typical Easter weather smile.gif Good for skiing and such...
Red
Flowers blooming, the smell of fresh spring air, warm spring air and the sun is shining. Its discusting tongue.gif. I'm a fan of winter and I can barely stand the heat or the terrible weather we get here during the transition.
Tellie
Here in Norway, we have had good weather earlier this week...but it was not to be.,..verysad.gif

No today, the rain have been pouring down, and thats quite depressing, considering the fact that I was supposed to go skiing...verysad.gifverysad.gif
Fethenwen
Well dreams about skiing are long time over here where I live, I should go north, there's lovely weather there this time of the year.
This morning things got a bit better. The watery snow is now frozen, so my wool socks are dry today =)
DoomedOne
You lucky mother******s ( know I'm not supposed to censor myself but it didn't change it automatically). Here in California it's just awful, spring break here is supposed to mean sunshine, beach, binge drinking, instead I've been rained in about half the week. West Marin is on the verge of a second devastating flash flood, the last one in December already took out all the businesses in certain towns, some had to close permenantly, others managed to use public donations and what savings they had to fix their stores up an reopen. Those economies are about to be devastated.

It's bad, I'll say that much. I'm from Romania and the only thing that I've heard (or seen) in the last few weeks are detailed reports of the Danube's rise. I myself have little to worry since the capital is a hundred miles from the river, but my parents live in the city of Cernavoda, which is almost on red alert. That's the place where the river starts to make its way into the sea and several large floodgates have been built, over the last decades, to protect the city from a flash-flood and to supply the nuclear power plant there with a makeshift lake.

Moist officials say that the floodgates should be strong enough, but I have my doubts. There are several other dams up the river and, so far, they haven't proved to be very effective.

My only wish is that we do not see a repeat of last year's disaster, when the Siret river burst its banks and overflowed across southern Moldova. Thiusands were left homeless, the exact number of deaths is still being debated and an entire way of life was destroyed. What worries me the most is this: if we'll have another flood, it's going to be much worse, since the Siret is a little drizzle, compoared to the Danube.
Pisces
Its Autumn and I can see snow on the mountains. I can't wait, but thanks to stupid capitialism, global warming will stop enough snow building up to go snowboarding for atleast another 2 1/5 months. Weather has been sunny for the last few days, its has rained abit during the night but only a touch; it still summer weather.

sad.gif Worst case scenarios are getting closer and closer - it's been one hell of a day, freezing and the rain is pouring still... I heard that Djerdap Dam on Danube is now in a state of general alert; rivers are barely being contained by sandbags... crap.
Kora
Last night, it rained non-stop here, but now the weather's sunny. I only wish it would stay that way....

Spring here now! This weekend has been just marvellous, sunny, warm and a lot of spring-flowers are just popping out of the ground more and more every day!

the last few days have been sunny as hell, well except for two days ago. i was at a b-day party and we went paintballing. the wind had to be rippin like 10 MPH. the paintballs were flying everywhere. i got shot in the neck three times, but got my friend back by giving him a ginormous welt on his hip.

There is sun in New York. I wish it was raining. Or cloudy. Its too bright. I fear for my skin and eyes.
Tellie
Well, what do you know, today we have actually had good weather here in this part of Norway.

lots of sun, and a comfy breeze, it doesn't get much better than this at this time of year...smile.gif

Sunny weather in Bucharest, for a change, but the wind is still pretty chilly. So far, I've heard that about 500 people have been evacuated, were the Danube overflowed, but so far, aside from the extensive damage to property, there have been no lives lost. Thank heavens! ohmy.gif

Iīm glad to hear that , Kora! Iīve been worried about you romanians in that area!

Aye, it sure seems to be a bad situation there. There was a report about that in our local paper here today. Hope it doesn't get much worse :S

Since the Sun has finally come to California I decided to write this little poem about spring.

Hedgehogs burrow out to take a breath
And Trees awaken with leaves and squirrels
Spring is a time where life comes out of death
And color unfolds and tumbles and swirls

Spring is a time of beautiful flowers
Where we get so much sun it almost hurts
Where we dump out everything that has turned sour
And where all the girls wear miniskirts

I swear I wrote it completely on the spot, too. I can't write poems well, but I can write them fast.

Now don't everyone throw your mittens and snow shoes at me ... but I live in Florida .... all sunshine all the time!!!

That is when we aren't having thunderstorms (we are the lightning capitol of North America) and of course, from June to November it's hurricane season. Ok, bigey dealy - ya buy some candles and canned goods. We all got through the summer of the 4 hurricanes, so pour another gumbay smash and enjoy the margaritas.

I spent today at poolside, when I wasn't swimming among this delightful little family that for some reason had told their children that there wouldn't be any dinner that night ... you could tell the adults were teasing but the kids were really puzzled about why no dinner. Ya, strange swimming companions I know - but Cain only let's me swim when there are other people in the pool for safety. And he never leaves the darkened room of the computer screens. So, I swim with whoever is there. tee hee

I sat out in a lawn chair and wrote a letter to my sis after that and even though it was 6:30pm, the sun was warming my face and legs like it was about 4pm. Very nice sunny, breezy weather - high puffy clouds - egrets, coromants, grackles winging it on the updrafts. God I love Florida! cool.gif

Very nice poem, Doomed One biggrin.gif

Well, today was one of southern Norway's rainy days....it have been raining constantly since I came back from the hospital yesterday...

And they have told us it will continue for the next three days...but after that, they mean that we will have a LONG period of good weather...smile.gif biggrin.gif

It rained today ohmy.gif ohmy.gif For the first time in quite a while, its stopped now though. I like the rain, its calming. And hopefully while it is raining down here, it is snowing in the mountains.
Fethenwen
Ok, yesterday it was hot, and by my standards... really hot!
I sat and played some Oblivion and the sun was shining into my room, and after I few hours I was like: Air! air! have get some air, and then I took my clothes of, sort of.
I didn't go outside much, but I think it was 17 degrees celsius. This unexpected summer weather sure takes some time to get used to.

The weather in Yorkshire, England has only one setting - Overcast. So today is grey with cloud cover, tomorrow will be grey with cloud cover, and the day after that will be grey with cloud cover, and maybe some rain. Southampton was sunny, but then the south of England usually is. London was a little chilly.

I perfer the weather in Arizona. At least you can see the big blue sky, even if you do get rather sunburnt. California was either grey (in LA), or sunny but wet (San Fran). Vegas was arid.

That's about the only places I've been to in the last two weeks.

Then weather is quite good here, but every time I approach that strange, glowing ring just outside of town it gets worse. The sky turns red and cloudy, thunder breaks out, and...

No, wait... blink.gif

It's been rather sunny and warm over here as of late (seeing as I've been able to wear a skirt without freezing my bum off in the process).

On a darker note, I once again find myself the bearer of bad news (not exactly tightly related to the weather, but if the situation gets any worse, they will be). Apparently, God Almighty deemed that we needed something to scare us even worse that the floodwaters (which are starting to calm down). Yesterday, it has come to my attention that an accident has occured at the Kozloduy atomic power plant, in neighbouring Bulgaria, across the Danube. A circulation cooling pomp, belonging to reactor no. 5 has been forcibly shut down, causing 22 of the 61 protection elements (neutron absorbers, which control the nuclear reaction within the reactor itself) to stop functioning. This is very bad news, since atomic-safety laws clearly state that if more than one protection element is not working properly, an emergency alert should be initiated. Right now, the Bulgarian government is being accused by the International Agency for Atomic Power of trying to cover up the crisis. And, what is truly ironic is that this fine mess occures at exactly 20 years after the Cernobyl disaster.

I for one, hope that it is a minor incident, blown out of proportion by mediatic hysteria, but the information that I have seen so far tells me otherwise. My father is a specialist in nuclear power and I have learned quite a lot from him over the years. He and Ivan Ivanov, the director of Kozlodui, are friends and so he might be able to get information directly from the source (that is, if Ivanov hasn't been ordered to stay silent on the matter).

Next week, I'm leaving for Cernavoda, to see my family on the first of May and I'll be able to get some inside info on the whole situation from my father. Right now, I have a splitting headache and a wish that humans would stop fiddling with forces they can barely comprehend.

Ahaha Danny! That sounds like what we call "Florida Ice"

It's when it's only a drizzley little rain coming down on the highway, but the roads are built up very much with oil and gas emissions from everybody's cars during the dry time. So the rain wets the top of the oil slick and everyone starts sliding around like their tires are driving on ice.

Very dangerous! Especially with so many out-of-staters not knowing about it.... and everybody from all the different states and countries all drive in their own peculiar evillol.sml.gif "driving cheats" evillol.sml.gif styles. It's crazy sometimes just going to the store! blink.gif

Couldn't happen to me. When I go to the store, I usually walk. wink.gif

Anyway, just had a nice first of may, complete with party and minigolfing and drinking a cafe au lait in the sun, and eating icecream! It was rather chilly when the sun vanished behind clouds, which happened regularily - but it was still nice. Much better than the last couple days.

Enjoy it while you can, Minkey... like everything in life, weather can get worse, too, in more than one way. Example ? I spent the whole day throwing showel after showel full of wet sand and gravel at the foundations of my unle's house... we did about 8-9 cubic meters today *dead* and nearly all the time it was SUN, scorching, beating, tormenting me... I think I have some burns now, but I can't feel them - not yet sad.gif
